Coronavirus has been, horrible, hyped, used, and misunderstood from the moment it reached our news sources. Everyone has been affected whether directly or indirectly to this point. Some people have been able to capitalize on the fact people have changed their lifestyles and have resulted in more profit for businesses that have products and services that are deemed essential. Well, others have only been met with drastic hits to their financial health. Our mental health has been changed, both in positive and negative ways. We have even experienced loss and death at the hands of this Virus.
Yeah, viruses have been around since the beginning of time but this one has hit us wrong, like that first girlfriend/ boyfriend who fucks us up for a while after they leave us.
Never fear though, I am here to talk about one of the potentially positive things that have come from this, more specifically as a positive from the quarantine order that has been imposed on every corner of this flat slab, we call home, lol. Joking the Earth is round!!!
Do me a favor and take a moment on this fact, while you have been staying home have you had a chance to get to know your family better? Have you personally seen changes in your own observations of yourself? The mirror shows more when you are standing in front of for longer. Most people will say yes, followed by some reflection of how they don’t like what they see. But I challenge you to take a look at things through the lens of opportunity. For instance, had this Virus thing not happened and the subsequent events not taken place in the past, many of us would have never been presented with the opportunity to be at home for so long with our children and spouses or loved ones. This has allowed many of us to see moments in time that we may have missed while at our jobs or distracted by other things. If you have not noticed any of these moments, take the time today after reading this article to do so.
One other great opportunity that has presented itself for some is that for some of us that are laid off from jobs we have a chance to ask ourselves when the time to go back to work happens are we going to? Now obviously you will want to go back to work, money doesn’t grow on trees!! But do you want to go back to the job or career you were in before you were forced to leave? We’re you happy there and will the continuation of that job or career path meet your future needs over time and not just financially? Will the dynamic of going back to work be the best for your family if that is your scenario? Some of you may find that the answer to those questions may not be what you expected. This is a wonderful moment to make some changes if you need to in order to find a happier place for yourself and your family. What if the roles of the two partners could be changed after we go back to our jobs? What if those who are essential and still working decide you know what, I really do not like what I do in my current job and how I have been treated during this by my employer. There are tons of other likeminded questions.
Just take a moment now and during any turmoil in your life to take a step back and ask yourself if you are okay with the path, you’re on and how can you use a bump in the road to instead, of making you trip and fall, but rather a ramp to shoot you up into a blessing that may not have been readily apparent.
I wish you all well in whatever you do either way.
P.S. Cover your mouth when you cough, or nose when you sneeze!!! Wash your damn hands always and for the love of God don’t stand so close to each other!!
Stay Healthy and safe.
